Board of Adjustment <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 15, 2014 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />Malmquist asked if the request was to build within the floodplain and not the overall <br />approval of the addition. <br />McCartney answered in the affirmative. <br />Applicant Presentation and questions from the Board to the applicant: <br />John Gstalder, applicant, gave a detailed description of what the project will involve: <br />• Addition will allow them to expand existing Old Louisville Inn <br />• The building was preserved by the previous owner, Garrett McCarthy, but the <br />new owners would like to expand the use to allow for more seating and for <br />update restrooms. <br />• The addition will also provide additional shoring for the existing historic structure. <br />• The existing structure will be further preserved and the new addition will be <br />designed to complement the existing historic structure. <br />• Following the recent heavy rains, we did not see any flooding in this area and <br />there is no evidence of this structure flooding within the 106 years the structure <br />has been in existence. <br />• He then gave details of the addition. <br />Public Present in Opposition of Application: <br />None heard. <br />Public Present in Favor of Application: <br />None heard. <br />Public Hearing Closed / Board Discussion: <br />Stuart stated he agreed with staff, all criteria had been met. <br />Ewy stated the key piece was the existing structure is considered a local historical <br />structure and the finished floor is currently a half foot above the base flood elevation. <br />Malmquist stated the criteria are clear and the recent flood did not create any issues, <br />the addition should not change any of the existing conditions. <br />Malmquist made a motion to approve.
