Louisville Public Library Strategic Plan <br />Goal #3: Spark Imagination and Learning <br />2014 Work Plan <br />We provide the space, resources, and programs to help people of all ages find <br />inspiration and become lifelong learners. <br />Objectives <br />1. Bring Resources to Life <br />We create programs that encourage creativity, deliver hands -on education, promote <br />personal growth, and highlight the resources available through the Library. <br />1.1 Work Plan Responses <br />A. Children's <br />• A redesigned Summer Reading Program exposes kids <br />to a wide variety of STEM - related subject matter <br />through a new badge program. <br />• The 'Picture This!' series connects children to local <br />artists to create unique artwork. <br />• Jr. First LEGO League offers teams of 6 -9- yr. -olds the <br />chance to learn about engineering and construction. <br />• Other hands -on programs, such as the ongoing LEGO ®s <br />Club and Rainbow Loom, provide opportunities for <br />exploration and sharing. <br />B. Teen <br />• The physiology -based Anatomy In Clay program offers <br />teens in -depth learning opportunities. <br />• Regularly scheduled programs such as Chess Club, <br />WriTeen, and CrafTeen, offer teens opportunities to be <br />creative. <br />C. Adult <br />• Periodic 'Tech' programs enable adults to better use <br />their electronic devices. <br />• 'Maker' programming gives adults a chance to create <br />artwork and crafts using their own materials in a <br />collaborative environment. <br />Ambitious badge program <br />launched for all age groups. <br />Five teams developed and <br />showcased their projects related <br />to natural disasters. <br />Completed. <br />Complete; will continue in 2015. <br />Chess Club meets as needed with <br />non -staff facilitator. WriTeen, <br />CrafTeen had small turnouts. Will <br />rethink. <br />Tech Guru meets individually with <br />patrons 3 times per mo. <br />Room completed in Nov. Classes <br />and workshops began Dec. <br />
