Louisville Public Library Strategic Plan Goal #3: Spark Imagination and Learning 2014 Work Plan We provide the space, resources, and programs to help people of all ages find inspiration and become lifelong learners. Objectives 1. Bring Resources to Life We create programs that encourage creativity, deliver hands -on education, promote personal growth, and highlight the resources available through the Library. 1.1 Work Plan Responses A. Children's • A redesigned Summer Reading Program exposes kids to a wide variety of STEM - related subject matter through a new badge program. • The 'Picture This!' series connects children to local artists to create unique artwork. • Jr. First LEGO League offers teams of 6 -9- yr. -olds the chance to learn about engineering and construction. • Other hands -on programs, such as the ongoing LEGO ®s Club and Rainbow Loom, provide opportunities for exploration and sharing. B. Teen • The physiology -based Anatomy In Clay program offers teens in -depth learning opportunities. • Regularly scheduled programs such as Chess Club, WriTeen, and CrafTeen, offer teens opportunities to be creative. C. Adult • Periodic 'Tech' programs enable adults to better use their electronic devices. • 'Maker' programming gives adults a chance to create artwork and crafts using their own materials in a collaborative environment. Ambitious badge program launched for all age groups. Five teams developed and showcased their projects related to natural disasters. Completed. Complete; will continue in 2015. Chess Club meets as needed with non -staff facilitator. WriTeen, CrafTeen had small turnouts. Will rethink. Tech Guru meets individually with patrons 3 times per mo. Room completed in Nov.
