Louisville Public Library Strategic Plan <br />2014 Work Plan <br />2. Provide Exposure for Experts and Artists <br />We collaborate with local artists, educators, and specialists to share their expertise, <br />providing exceptional learning and entertainment opportunities to our patrons. <br />2.1 Work Plan Responses <br />A. Art Shows <br />• Students, amateurs, and professional artists show their <br />work through gallery displays and exhibits. Partners <br />include the Louisville Art Association, the Louisville <br />Cultural Council, Parks and Recreation, and area <br />schools. <br />Ongoing. Student art also <br />displayed in Children's; student <br />entries for Street Faire poster <br />competition displayed. <br />3. Encourage Lifelong Learning and Personal Growth <br />We help community members learn new skills by enabling them to locate the information <br />they seek. <br />3.1 Work Plan Responses <br />A. Website <br />• The Library's website is redesigned in conjunction with <br />the City's. Powerful subscription databases not <br />generally available to individual users are featured. <br />B. Programs <br />• The 'Discover Health' exhibit and programming present <br />opportunities for all ages to learn about anatomy, <br />medicine, and healthy living. <br />• Introductory programs for children, such as beginning <br />yoga and Tai Kwan Do, promote their personal growth. <br />C. Outreach <br />• Staff demonstrates databases and other resources to <br />groups such as the Downtown Business Association, <br />City staff, and service groups. <br />Launch expected in Dec., after City <br />site goes live. <br />Beta site for exhibit. 6 programs <br />held, including our most popular <br />ever on Brain Research with CU. <br />Completed. <br />Promotion in DBA newsletter; <br />demo to City staff in Econ Dev, <br />Planning. <br />4. Provide Creative Spaces <br />We offer meeting areas and collaborative spaces to foster community dialogue. Our <br />displays and seating areas encourage conversation and create interest in new subjects. <br />8 <br />
