LCityof
Louisville
COLORADO - SINCE 1878
Golf Course Advisorj' Board Minutes
November 17 2014
6. Sustainability Advisory Board Presentation:
Mark Persichetti gave an informative and concise summary of the Baseline Energy
Inventory and Sustainable Action Planning prepared for City Council. Discussion and
Comments on the presentation are as follows
• Chris Bradford had conducted an in -depth analysis of the golf course irrigation
system prior to the flood and this showed that there was significant wastage of
water due to leaks and this in turn, increased the energy cost used by the pump
stations. The irrigation system has been totally replaced and a lower power
auxiliary pump installed. This should eliminate leaks and lower the energy cost.
The usage analysis should be repeated for the first full year of course operation
following the re- opening and the improvement in performance benchmarked. This
should show a successful pre - emptive action for sustainability and also
demonstrate to citizens the value of replacing the worn -out irrigation system.
• Minor actions are being taken in the Clubhouse to improve energy efficiency such
as replacing light fixtures with lower energy alternatives but major changes to the
Clubhouse are not being proposed at this time. The Maintenance Facility could
also be studied as it is an old building designed with little regard for conservation.
• Mark suggested that the Food and Beverage Concession, currently being
negotiated should contain wording requiring attention to proper recycling of food
and other waste.
• The new cart fleet will be electric and some consideration is being given to bicycle
golf carts. Bicycle golf carts will make the hill on holes 15 and 16 both challenging
and interesting.
• Photovoltaic arrays on the Clubhouse roof or elsewhere on the golf course would
contribute significantly to sustainability but return on investment must be proven as
part of an overall City photovoltaic strategy.
• The Board expressed its appreciation to Mark for his presentation and agreed to
bear sustainability in mind in making future decisions.
7. Staff Update on Construction Progress.
Joe Stevens reported as follows:
• Progress on completing the project was covered in detail at Saturday's Public
Meeting and Joe added the following comments
• The fairway on hole #14 is still to be seeded.
• Seeding the punchbowl green was delayed in order to provide access for replacing
the bridge on hole #10. Seeding will be completed when weather permits.
• All greens have now been seeded and most of them have covers in place. The
punchbowl green is also covered in the areas where seeding has been completed.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT - 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 3354735 - FAX (303) 3354738
www.Iou isvi I leco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
