Little additional damage has been caused due to the staging of material and equipment in the parking lot • Drainage work has still to be completed on holes #3 and #4 and the turf has to be repaired when the pipe- laying work is complete. • Guard rails for the new bridges are in the design phase, these will need to meet current safety standards for height etc.. • Throughout the winter, targeted "dormant seeding" will be done in problem areas to expedite growth. In addition, LU expects that in spring, "wall -to- wall" slit- seeding will be done. • With the majority of tasks complete, LU is starting to move equipment off site. The surplus irrigation material will be kept in inventory for any repairs that may be needed in the future. • The batch of irrigation solenoids manufactured in April 2014 has a significant defect and all are being replaced at the expense of the manufacturer, Rainbird. Only the solenoids on the driving range are from a good batch so the remaining 1700 solenoids are being replaced out of a total of over 1900. • Staff is presenting to City Council an approval request for LU to complete the nurture of the course during the grow -in period. Since approvals are granted on a fiscal year basis, the 2015 work requires separate approval. The total cost of the grow -in work is $634. • David Dean is working with LU to devise a strategy to phase over to City employees when the grow -in contract is complete. LU employees who have worked on this phase of the project are eligible to be considered for employment as part of the City maintenance team. • LU is continuing to work on the small number of major items still outstanding, subject to weather conditions. In early spring, a punch list — probably of 70 — 100 items - will be created to achieve satisfactory full completion of the contract. • The board noted that planting the trees on the berm between hole #16 and HWY 36 will be delayed until spring. The planting window has been missed for this year and spring will give a better selection of trees and provide more favorable planting conditions. 8. Discussion on Grow -in Project The point at which the course will be ready for play is totally dependent on the winter /spring weather. LU is confident that we will be able to open by the end of spring (June 21) and that date can be confirmed or modified depending on how well the grass is growing in by March / April next year.
