Horticulture & Forestry Advisory Board Minutes Thursday, January 8, 2015 Spruce Room City Hall 749 Main Street 7:00 PM I. Call to order—Chair Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm. II. Roll call—Board members present: Shelly Alm, Mike Frontczak, English Hopkins, Mark Newland, Ellen Toon. Board members absent: Neal Griggsmiller, Beverlee White. Staff members present: Dean Johnson; Sean McCartney (Planning Dept.) City Council member present: Susan Loo. Guests: Rick and Justin from RMCS (DELO developers); Louisville residents Steve Poppitz and Peter Spraitz. III. The agenda was approved by all members, with a change in item order to allow Susan to recuse herself from the discussions about DELO and community gardens proposal. IV. The minutes from the Dec. 4, 2014 meeting were approved. V. Public Comments on Items not on the Agenda—1) Per Susan, Troy Russ of the Planning Department has offered to attend an HFAB meeting to discuss HFAB’s role in the City’s development process. Mike will contact Troy to set a meeting date. 2) Per Dean, the candidates for the new arborist position were excellent. Three finalists have been selected, and the new employee should be starting within the month. VI. Trails Wayfinding Task Force—Dean explained that Parks & Recreation is working with a consultant to create a comprehensive ‘wayfinding’, or routing and signage system for all of Louisville’s paths and trails. The task force will consist of two board members from each of the City’s boards. Mark and English volunteered to represent HFAB.
