1. Lake to Lake Trail
Much of this trail is complete- most components of the sign palette can be implemented along the route.
2. Goodhue Ditch Trail
Much of this trail is complete except for one difficult trail intersection at Warembourg Open Space, which is tied to implementing one of the prioritized trail improvements.
3. Powerline Trail
Much of this trail is complete except for the connection to Coal Creek Trail across Dillon Rd. A few trail alignment connection improvements are recommended along this trail which also has an impact to sign phasing.
4. Old Town Link
Much of this trail is an existing quiet road corridor that can currently be utilized as a multi-modal access to Old Town Louisville when accompanied by on-street wayfinding signage. The on-street route awareness signage designates the route and is appropriate for Phase 1 implementation as it coincides with the planning dept’s walnut st improvements.
5. Farmer’s Trail
Significant parts of this trail are slated for re-alignment and cannot be signed consistently throughout the route. Key intersections have directional signs prioritized in phasing in order to communicate the route as part of the Primary Trail System.
6. Mining Trail
Mining Trail is a relatively complete trail route from the Arboretum to Old Town, which warrants attention to higher priority phasing of signs. Also, we are aware that new trail alignments will be explored in the area west of McCaslin Boulevard and that these could be used for a western extension of the proposed Mining Trail, though signs have not been planned at this time.
7. Coal Creek Trail
This system is a complete regional trail system that has a multi-entity jurisdiction. Permissions and reviews of proposed signage are needed in order to implement signage. This trail system is a linear greenway that follows the Coal Creek to the south of town. While signs will enhance wayfinding from Coal Creek to the interior of the trail system, there are fewer locations of concern along this stretch than within the collection of primary trails. As a result intersection signs along this stretch are slated for later phases.
