direct people to new communities in
the area. Our business is for the
home builders and their marketing
needs. These signs are a very
important factor for the builders.
We would like to work out some kind
of agreement with the city
regarding this issue. We would
like to still put sign up only on
Saturday and Sunday.
Detzel stated that his company has
done some good work and we have
worked well with other cities and
would like to do the same here.
Davidson asked if we allow this
company to put these signs up,
wouldn't we have to allow anyone to
do this?
Williams stated that our code does
not allow for these types of signs,
so we would have to change the
ordinance. We couldn't allow just
one company to do this, we would
have to allow anyone.
Davidson stated that in speaking to
our current sign ordinance, your
weekend signs both on McCaslin and
Pine Street, there are directional
signs that do met the city code. Also what happens is
the home builders themselves
request signs from us and they
place those signs themselves.
Davidson stated that the companies
need to be more responsible for the
signs. If the signs would have
been put up on Saturday and taken
dawn on Sunday, this issue would
have not came before us.
Howard stated when he was
campaigning, this issue of signage
came up repeatedly from citizens.
