Carnival suggested to sit down with
Tom Hoyt from McStain and some of
the other developers and get a
feeling for the importance of these
types of signs . Lets see how the
city can help. Let's see what's
right and what's wrong then come
back to Council with
recommendations.
Hornbostel stated she feels the
sign code is appropriate as it is.
If we change we need to be fair to
everyone. I don't think we need to
change when we seem to be doing
well and selling building permits.
Davidson stated he is not objecting
to having developers advertising
their developments. It's one type
of sign that is being put up on
pubic property that I am objecting
to. This is not the first time the
problem has been with the city.
Adams stated he felt the suggestion
to get together with the developers
is a great suggestion.
Mayor Fauson stated the signs have
gotten to a degree that we can no
longer tolerate them. There are
way to many signs up. If there is
some way we could work this out and
sit down and discussion this I
would like to do this.
Hornbostel stated another concern
is the placement of these signs.
There should be some kind of
regulation that they are not placed
in a landscaped median.
Howard stated he would like to try
out a weekender concept where we
can work out so many signs per
development.
After a lengthy discussion on how
to regulate the sign code and how
to regulate how many signs and
where they should be placed, it was
suggested to have a proposal be
drawn up by the sign company
indicating were the signs will be
