Mayor Fauson asked for public comments. NONE
Davidson: Are there any disadvantages to changing the zoning
at the PUD process rather than doing it now
Franklin: No, the zoning is fairly strict. The RE zoning
does tell i:.he neighborhood that it is going to be
strictly residential.
Mayor Fauson closed the public hearing.
Sackett moved that Ordinance No. 1030, Series 1990 be republished
with the request that thi:> property is being zoned RE rather than
Agricultural, seconded by Carnival. By Roll Call Vote Motion
Passed 7-0.
DISCUSSION/MOTION - GOOD SHEPHERD CHRISTIAN CENTER ANNEXATION AND
RE ZONING - REFER TO PLANNING COMMISSION.
Franklin: This is a request for a referral to Planning
Commission of an annexation and zoning for the
property known as the Good Shepherd Christian
Center and Bergen Properties. Mountain Mesa has
resubmitted his request for annexation of the
property on McCaslin Blvd. This development has
met some oppositions and concerns. The applicant
proposes to develop the 13 acre site for large lot
single family dwellings and a 3 acre church site.
Gary Bergen: We have had a hearing here and at the church site
with regard to this annexation. We have redone
our proposal to meet some of the concerns by the
neighborhood. We will have a developer come in
and develop this parcel.
Shawn Gatlin, 1044 W. Alder.
Gatlin: I am speaking against any annexation that would
allow for anything less than 5 acre estates in
this area. The neighbors had represented to them
that the land across from McCaslin was 5 acre
estates anct I believe that is what we should keep.
We have had to compromise with the widening of
McCaslin, elevating McCaslin as high as it is, and
the power lines that have been put in. This
annexation would only be another compromise for
this area. The power lines have been a great
burden for the area.
Howard: If this piece of property where to be annexed
would it then be eligible for the city's already
existing power line burial program?
Franklin: Yes, it would. The Council would need to look at
8
