the entire community and establisr~ priorities for
underground funds.
Howard: When this went through Planning Commission the
last time there were a lot of upset people in the
area. I do not see how this new submittal has
alleviated the major concerns of the citizens in
that area. I think the citizens that live in that
area do not; feel a high level of trust. I do not
want to waste Planning Commission time if this
proposal i:~ going to get killed. What guarantee
could Mr. Bergen give us that this will go
through.
Bergen: The big problem that we had was where the church
was going to be located. We are moving the church
and trying to negotiate in good faith. I had
7,000 square foot lots, we are asking for 12,000
square foot: 1 ots .
Howard: The people in the area still feel very strongly
about this area.
Sackett: The reason that we have a Planning Commission is
50 that they can discuss this type of issue. I
feel it is appropriate to send it to them. Often
time neighborhoods want to restrict the use of
property tY~at they do not own. Most people would
like to have the same type of zoning as their
property. I would recommend that the Planning
Commission Iook at this proposal very carefully.
Davidson: In the Comprehensive Plan what does this property
call for?
Franklin: It is part of our service area and is single
family residential.
Hornbostel: I feel this area has some special problems and
needs to be looked at very carefully. We have
developed almost every piece of property along the
Mesa and tYiis is the only piece of the Mesa left.
The neighborhood has real concerns about this area
and need to be looked at.
Carnival: I feel that. it is appropriate to make any comments
that we fuel necessary tonight so that the
developer gets a feel for what we want and what
the neighborhood wants. I believe in the process
that we have in place at this time and feel that
we should refer this to the Planning Commission.
Davidson: We do have the choice on whether to annex this
property or' not. It is one of the last pieces of
property that overlooks Boulder Valley. I think
9
