Historical Commission
Minutes
January 7, 2015

presentations about the proposals to other Louisville commissions and boards. With
the new campus and building, the Museum could be re-imagined as the Louisville
Visitors Center. Lynn Koglin (LK) reported that in the past he attended the meetings of
several boards and commissions to speak during “public comments” about plans for
the Museum campus. BB suggested that a sub-group of the LHC meet to plan a more
formal presentation to a selected group of commissions and boards. Gladys Levis-Pilz,
Steve Domenico and Paula Elrod volunteered for this task. BB will set up a meeting.
C. Commission members discussed whether we should complete more visits to area
city museums to get more input and ideas. If we want to go to Longmont it would
have to be during the workweek when they are open and have staff to assist us.

XIV. Items of common interest with the LHPC

Paula Elrod was not able to attend the last meeting so there was nothing to report at
this time.

XV. Election of officers for 2015

The slate of officers elected for 2015 were: Dan Mellish, Chairperson, Anne Robinson,
Vice-Chairperson, and Gladys Levis-Pilz, Secretary. These appointments were
approved.

XVI. Louisville History Foundation update

Three new directors have been elected to the Foundation Board. They are: Catherine
Wessling, who grew up in Louisville and has a background in communications; David
Marks, who is a marketing manager for a law firm in Denver and lives in Louisville; and
Missy DiSalle Diehl, who is from Louisville and who has a background in fundraising.
Missy’s grandfather, Lawrence Enrietto, was an important figure in the modernizing of
Louisville.

XVII. Commission Comments & Discussion items for the next meeting

Gladys Levis-Pilz inquired whether the Foundation was eligible to participate in the
Colorado Gives Day. Bridget Bacon explained that the Foundation is not eligible at this
time, but Foundation members have started to discuss this issue. An organization
needs to submit an IRS Form 990 to participate, and this has not so far been required
of the Foundation. The expert advice given to the Foundation thus far is that the
Foundation might instead want to focus on other types of fundraising at this time, but
the Foundation will continue to discuss.
Chris Leh thanked all of the Commission members for volunteering in this way.

XVIII. Close Meeting & Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 7:35PM.
4
