Revitalization Commission
Minutes
February 9, 2015
Page 4of4
Phasing and completion is dependent on funding opportunities. Total costs are
roughly $18 million. Louisville was unsuccessful in obtaining DRGOG funding.
Staff will continue to work with Boulder County. Hwy 42 will be a phased project.
Lafayette does not have the funding for the planned soccer fields.
Chair Becker thanked Russ and said the information has been helpful. He asked
how the LRC can help. Troy recommended being a funding partner in Miner's
Field and Little Italy neighborhoods helping those area keep their character.
Public Comments:
Randy Carnci said he is not supportive of spending funds on the Hwy 42 Plan.
Feels the City is adding residential, adding ballfields and not changing Hwy 42 to
accommodate this traffic. The plan will not work. Commissioner Menaker said
the opportunity for the LRC or City to revisit decision to make it a 5 lane road is
passed. The Hwy 44 plan was a decision made by CDOT and Louisville. This
was approved by City Council June 4, 2013. The Mayor stated the purpose was
to slow traffic and bring ball field area as part of town. The plan balances
efficiency with maintaining the road to 3 lanes, goal is to not separate that area
from the rest of the community.
Commissioners' Comments —
Xcel Pipeline construction will be disruptive to businesses on Hwy 42 over
roughly 4 months.
Commissioner Menaker asked those who can to attend Planning Commission on
Thursday at 6:30.
New items for next meeting and future agendas:
• Review TIF financials
• What projects might be reasonable to anticipate
Meeting Adjourned: 8:56 AM
5
