Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
March 18, 2015

City of Louisville
Public Works Department 749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4608 (phone) 303.335.4550 (fax) www.louisvilleco.gov
David: Question to Jay about the fiscal timing to hire a sustainability coordinator. It’d be hard to find
that in the city budget at this point might be able to formalize it for a grant for the following year.
Note: Up to Kurt to decide if this position is needed, then to Malcolm to provide position. Propose it as
a line item in operational budget. Get a timeline.
IX. Non-Rotating LSAB Chair
Suggestion of a Liaison (Mary Ann volunteered) for city council rather than rotating chair. Currently,
Dave is listed on website. The Board agreed to submit Mary Ann as acting liaison for this calendar
year.
X. Sustainability Roadmap Sections
Next LSAB meeting will be dedicated to review of the Roadmap as a group. [Prepare for a long
meeting] Section groups should do an initial review before meeting.
GOALS: Find items that overlap or need more clarity. Add justifications or economic benefit to each
line item. Add a “preamble”. Add city comparisons (other than Boulder), Golden was a suggestion.
Mary Ann will ask Meredith for some city comparisons regarding budget and size etc.
XI. Boulder County Grant Updates
Due to some miscommunication with the city’s application we tabled our request.
Boulder County has a community outreach program grant for recycling: Dave put in an application
along with Ecocycle for Louisville. This would include a study/survey to determine why residents use
large trash containers versus smaller trash and large recycling containers. Dave will send out survey
for feedback by next month.
XII. Community Gardens
Mary Ann: Put in touch with Friends of the Arboretum to use their 501(c)(3) for accounting to act as
our fiscal agent. Claudia is going to draw up an agreement between the groups.
Planning commission – suggested we send up a meeting with Parks and Rec, Planning Dept and City
Manager and Public Works. From meeting: the church property is off limits for many years because
there’s not master plan and PUD, so stick with original properties. Wetlands permit approved for area
near Lincoln. Now we need a new plan for the planning department to respond to SRU comments.
Then it can be submitted to commissions and council. Hopefully start construction in September.
XIII Log Volunteer Hours
Hours logged below.
XIV Items for Next Meeting (April 15)
 ROADMAP
XV. Adjourn: Meeting adjourned at 8:02pm.
