I U Cityof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
March 18, 2015
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
are updated frequently. He was eager to share any information with the
community; however, he also stated that if the City's new website and other
marketing efforts are well done, we may not need to use the "Friends of Coal
Creek" Facebook page in the future. Ken reminded everyone that the Facebook
page was initiated with the administrator oversight by a City employee (IT) and
was needed since Western Golf was doing a poor job of communications with the
Louisville community.
• It was determined that no action was required at this time.
7. Board Recommendations of Needed Capital Improvements (2016 - 2020)
• Joe Stevens stated that 90% of what was contained in the Golf Course
Improvement Plan presented by the GCAB in 2011/12 has been accomplished in
the recent rebuilding efforts.
• Lisa Norgard asked if golf carts will be allowed in the parking lots; David Baril
suggested that that it was his intention to allow the carts in the parking lot, but
this was pending a response from the insurance company. Ken pointed out that
many golf course in the surrounding area allow carts in the parking lots like
Indian Peaks, Heritage Westmoor, Buffalo Run, Ute Creek, etc. and that we
should find out who carries their insurance and what kind of `riders' they have if
any.
• Perry Nelson and Lisa Norgard inquired about upgrades to the club house such
as painting; Joe Stevens talked about how the lack of or deferred maintenance
on the club house by Western and a lot of the budget that had been set aside in
the past went to the ADA improvements that were required; David Baril stated
that he plans on getting a quote for painting. He talked about researching a kind
of "faux wood" paint job to match the mining theme throughout the course.
• David Dean talked about eventual capital improvements in the maintenance
facility to the 1) chemical storage and 2) covered storage for the new course
mowing equipment as the maintenance building is not large enough to hold all
the new equipment. Cory Nickerson asked if the chemical storage was ventilated
and up to code and David affirmed it was and that some of the codes were
grandfathered. Joe Stevens pointed out that for longer term chemical storage
needs, the golf course could use the new facility building that is currently under
construction on Dillon road at the Colorado Technology Center. .
• Lisa Norgard asked if the course needed new cart paths and Ken Gambon added
that there were several areas that had `informal' dirt paths and maintenance
roads on hole 7 behind the back tee, 12 green to 13 tee, between the Himalaya
green and the creek and also on the dirt road out of the maintenance yard to the
18th hole.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335 -4735 • FAX (303) 335 -4738
www.Iouisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
7
