Motion passed 6-0. <br />ORDINANCE #980, SERIES 1989 - PARAGON HEIGHTS ZONING - 1ST READING <br />SET PUBLIC HEARING Read by title only, Ordinance #980, Series 1989, <br />"An Ordinance amending Title 17 of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code entitled "Zoning" by zoning <br />property owned by the City of Louisville." <br />Franklin stated that Ordinance #979 initiated the <br />process of annexing the parcel of land near <br />Louisville Reservoir owned by the City of <br />Louisville, and this Ordinance #980 proposes to <br />zone this parcel A-Agricultural. Planning <br />Commission reviewed this request and recommends <br />approval. <br />Ferrera moved and Mayor Fauson seconded to place <br />Ordinance #980, Series 1989 out for publication <br />and set a public hearing for February 7, 1989. <br />Motion passed 6-0. <br />ORDINANCE #981, SERIES 1989 - SALES/USE TAX - 1ST READING - <br />SET PUBLIC HEARING Read by title only, Ordinance #981, Series 1989, <br />"An Ordinance of the City of Louisville, Colorado, <br />providing for the imposition of 3.00$ City Sales <br />Tax on the sale of tangible personal property at <br />retail or the furnishing of services; creating a <br />Capital Improvement Fund to be funded with one- <br />third of the revenues generated by the 3.00 sales <br />tax; providing for the imposition of 3.00$ City <br />Use Tax for the privilege of using or consuming <br />commercial construction and building materials, <br />and storing, using, or consuming any motor and <br />other vehicles; providing for the repeal of <br />inconsistent ordinances; and providing for the <br />submission of this Ordinance for approval at a <br />Special Municipal Election of the City on March <br />21, 1989." <br />Stahl explained that Ordinance #981, Series 1989, <br />provides for an increase of Louisville's Retail <br />Sales Tax from 2$ to 3~. In addition, the <br />Ordinance creates a 3~ use tax to be charged on <br />automobiles purchased outside Louisville, but <br />registered within the City, and 3~ on all <br />commercial building materials purchased outside <br />the City for use within the City. If adopted, the <br />revenue generated from the 1$ sales tax increase <br />would be earmarked for the Capital Improvement <br />Fund and specifically for the financing of a <br />Community Center, downtown improvements, library <br />expansion and a portion of the funds necessary to <br />reconstruct South Boulder Road from Highway 42 <br />4 <br />
