Laurence Enrietto, 1000 LaFarge, stated that he
commends staff and Council for bringing these needs
to the forefront and having the citizens vote on
these very important projects. The citizens will
decide what to do.
Kevin Obenchain, 169 W. Sycamore Lane, represented
Louisville Lafayette Downtown Revitalization, Inc.,
stated that this organization provides funds for
small businesses in the downtown areas of both
communities. Mr. Obenchain stated that the Library
serves the entire community and is an asset to the
downtown businesses and supports the relocation to
the Fischer Building due to the expected expansion
of the downtown business area to the Front Street
area where the Fischer Building is located. The
storm drainage improvements will also enhance the
downtown business area.
Eugene Caranci, lifetime resident of Louisville,
supports this Ordinance stating that a Rec Center is
essential in maintaining the fine quality of life
"as we know it here in Louisville" and complete the
four-laning of South Boulder Road "to protect the
lives of those that travel it everyday, especially
the lives of the students that are attending
Centaurus." As the chairman of the LLDR, Mr.
Caranci stated all residents, young and old, have
the primary concern of this community "as it grew
from just a main street all the way to micro-chips."
"An attractive viable main street is a key in
promoting Louisville." Mr. Caranci supports the
downtown drainage project and the relocation of the
Library to the Fischer Building as recently acquired
land for additional parking will allow easier access
to this facility. The future expansion of downtown
will be enhanced by anchoring the Library at this
location.
Bob Tofte, 1417 Courtesy Road, stated that as a
Library Board Member he encourages people to vote
favorably on Ordinance #981 and encourages Council
to consider the relocation of the Library to the
Fischer Building for many of the same reasons
stated by the others who have previously spoken.
Mr. Tofte spoke in favor of the Rec Center for all
ages.
Artys Galligar, Louisville Senior, stated that it
is her duty to go on record by saying the seniors
can not endorse the Rec Center proposal and can
not support the proposed Ordinance. Ms. Galligar
stated that there must be a positive commitment
made to the Seniors regarding their needs at the
Rec Center.
5
