The Fischer Building
will allow expansion of other departments at City
Hall and provide more space for the Library.
Maj-Lis Kemper, 539 W. Laurel Ct., stated she
supported the relocation of the Library to the
Fischer Building as the added space is necessary.
Dan DiSalle, 1323 Caledonia Circle, read a letter
from the Youth Activities Association supporting
the Ordinance as the construction of the Rec
Center would enhance opportunities for the
children of Louisville. As a citizen, Mr. DiSalle
commended Council for bringing this proposal to a
vote of the people after analyzing the needs of
all the citizens and let them decide.
Don Shonkwiler, 4d0 So. McCaslin Blvd., supports
this measure as it allows the citizens to decide
for themselves if they are willing to pay for
these quality of life improvements which will
attract business to the City of Louisville.
Chuck Bellock, developer in the City of
Louisville, stated that this measure will allow
the citizens to influence and do something about
the quality of life in Louisville. Mr. Bellock
stated that these projects will preserve
Louisville as a community, and not as a suburb.
Mr. Bellock stated that he will experience this
tax first-hand as a commercial developer, but
believes in this proposal as it is an investment
in this community and will bring positive returns
to all of us.
Kathy Fletcher, chairman of the Library Board,
urged Council to support the relocation of the
Library to the Fischer Building as it provides
space today and in the future. Ms. Fletcher
supports the Rec Center as it serves all citizens
of all ages. Ms. Fletcher stated that the
sales/use tax will provide these projects now and
provide the stability and tax base for future
projects that may be needed. This will also wean
the City from growth dollars. "Quality of life
doesn't just happen; you have to invest in it.
This is our chance. Lets do it."
Bill Stearns, 644 W. Aspen Court, supports the Rec
Center as the youth need better facilities to grow
and excel. Mr. Stearns supports the passage of
6
