decide this week. Ms. Monson outlined the
Authority's 1989 budget stating that salaries and
operating expenses (car allowances, travel
expenses, insurance, rent, utilities, etc.) make
up $350,000. Ms. Monson stated that there are no
provisions in the budget for engineering studies
or reports and wants to know what the Authority is
going to do with this money. "Why do we need to
continue funding an agency that can do nothing
more than pay salaries and operate at the basic
minimum." Ms. Monson stated that since the voters
rejected the $10 proposed fee, the Authority has
no other financial options available to them under
the public highway authority law. Ms. Monson
stated that "it is time to listen to the citizens
of Louisville for a change...and stop throwing our
money away."
Isadore Hauser, 1615 Cottonwood Dr., stated that
his feelings regarding this issue have been stated
by the others who have already spoken. Mr. Hauser
summarized by stating that he would like to see
the Louisville money withdrawn from the W-470
Authority "and put to good use...toward the
library...or toward a senior section of the
proposed rec center."
Jeff Nicolson, 102 So. Filmore Ave., stated that
he feels he is not being represented by the
Council on the W-470 issue. At a previous public
hearing regarding W-470, Mr. Nicolson stated that
he felt his opposition to the highway fell on deaf
ears. Mr. Nicolson stated that the election
clearly shows that the citizens of Louisville are
not willing to even pay $10 through a vehicle
registration fee and clearly shows to Council
that they don't want their tax dollars paying for
Louisville to be an Authority member. Mr.
Nicolson asked that Council represent him and the
vast majority of the Louisville voters by
withdrawing from the Authority getting the City's
money back.
COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE
REPORTS Mayor Fauson stated that a letter was sent to Mr.
Wurl asking him to address Council regarding the
W-470 issue at an upcoming meeting. Mayor Fauson
stated that it is the wishes and desires of this
Council to look towards Louisville's future and
believes that Council will continue to do that in
the future...look towards the City's future and
its well-being.
ADJOURNMENT With no further business, Mayor Fauson moved with-
out objection to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 p.m.
7
