LCityof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
April 20 2015
COLORADO i SINCE 1878
proposal. The following Motion passed unanimously as proposed by Sandy Stewart,
and seconded by Ken Gambon. "The GCAB applauds the community effort to
provide a memorial for Sybille Maring on golf course property and encourages City
Staff to work with the community to support this venture" Joe Stevens responded
that Staff would review this proposal in the light of a more general policy for
memorials on City Property that is currently being drafted.
6. Staff Update on course outstanding issues:
a. Introduction of Denise White. The Board welcomed Denise's appointment and
looked forward to working with her in promoting Coal Creek. Denise advised that
she had been on board for a month, working closely with Joe and David Baril to
come up to speed. Her initial energies are being devoted to devising a marketing
program to support the June Grand Re- Opening and general Marketing issues.
Denise's position is a 32 hour workweek with her time split between the golf course
and the other responsibilities of the Parks and Rec Dept.
o She plans to publish a newsletter on golf course progress, weekly at first and
then monthly when the course is open and we achieve stability.
o She is working on establishing a golf course Facebook page and Twitter
Account. The intent is to take over the existing Friends of Coal Creek
Facebook page. The Twitter account will be a real -time communication
advising of special tee time rates, course conditions etc.
o She is working on fine - tuning the golf course webpage on the City website.
Some minor issues still exist and are being worked. The website will be fully
functional ahead of the Grand Re- opening and will contain links to the Men's
and Ladies Leagues. It was suggested that a link to Monarch's golf program be
also provided. David Baril will consider this possibility.
o The golf course will be promoted at all up- coming City events, Street Faire,
Taste of Louisville, Bike -to -work Day, Touch a Truck (or golf cart,) and targeted
media events.
o Paid advertising will be placed as and when needed.
The Board noted that the latest issue of the Parks and Recreation brochure
omitted any reference to the golf course and Denise undertook to take care of this
for future editions.
o 4th of July Celebrations. The golf staff was reminded that the 4th of July
celebrations will have a significant impact on golf operations. The current plan
is for the course to be open on the morning of July 4th and close at 1 pm. Set up
of the facilities will start on July 3rd and tie up most of the parking lot and the
driving range. There is concern that public presence on the golf course could
damage the new grass and it was strongly suggested that sensitive areas be
roped off or have access otherwise prevented.
