Golf Course Starters and Rangers <br />• Golf course employees such as starters and rangers will be paid City positions in <br />accordance with Employment Law. Free golf privileges cannot be offered <br />without coming into conflict with the applicable payment and taxation <br />regulations <br />8. Group Discussion of the Grand Re- Opening Celebration <br />Lisa Norgard and Dennis Maloney represented the GCAB at the initial meeting on <br />this subject. Outline Plans are as follows: <br />o Festivities will run from 10am to 4pm on June 27. <br />o Dignitaries and Stakeholders will be invited including the Governor, past and <br />current city Council Members, County, State and FEMA employees who worked <br />on the renovation financing, Superior City Council and Mayor, Kevin Norby and <br />Landscapes Unlimited, current and former GCAB members, Boulder Valley <br />School District representatives, CU representatives, Monarch Golf Coaches <br />o First play will be on June 28 for invited guests including the media and key <br />stakeholders. It will be a shotgun start event. The course will be open for public <br />play on June 29th with reservations up to 7 days in advance on -line and by calling <br />the clubhouse. <br />o Events will be set up for the weekend and through the first few days of public <br />play. First drive, Long Drive, daily course scoring records, hole -in -one <br />competition etc. <br />o Entertainment will be provided such as a marching band, hot air balloons etc. <br />o Sponsorship will be solicited for commemorative items, logo water bottles etc. <br />o Kevin Norby is preparing a yardage book for the new course layout. <br />o The Mine will also celebrate its Grand Opening and will plan food specials. <br />o It looks risky, but if the punchbowl green is fully grown -in, putting competitions <br />will be set up <br />a) Volunteer Opportunities: there are several individuals and groups who are <br />anxious to offer their services to help to make the course look its best for the re- <br />opening. Staff must act in a timely manner to list and schedule the tasks that <br />need to be done, bearing in mind that LU are responsible for the site until agreed <br />completion of their grow -in contract. Opportunities discussed were: <br />o Planting of flowers in the clubhouse area and around the tee markers. The <br />Ladies League has volunteered to do the planting and the City "Blooming <br />Seniors" could also be requested to participate.
