City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 26, 2015 <br />Page 12 of 12 <br />REGULAR BUSINESS ITEMS CONTINUED <br />REPORT — DISCUSSION/DIRECTION /ACTION — REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION <br />City Attorney Light reported in executive session the City Council discussed a potential <br />real property acquisition. The City Council provided direction to the staff on negotiation <br />strategies. Staff will proceed with the direction given. If negotiations are successful, any <br />contracts and documents would be brought before Council at a public meeting. <br />ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br />No items to report. <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS, COMMITTEE REPORTS, AND IDENTIFICATION OF <br />FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS <br />Council member Leh noted sometimes the Council meetings run really late. He referred <br />to an article about a coach who successfully managed and improved each part of a <br />program. He suggested at a future study session Council discuss best practices and <br />set values for a public meeting so people aren't waiting several hours in order to speak. <br />He suggested guidelines, plus reducing staff and PowerPoint presentation time. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton agreed meeting length needed to be discussed. <br />Council member Lipton agreed and suggested Council discuss improvements to the <br />agendas, advanced agendas and starting meetings as early as six o'clock. Council <br />member Loo agreed and noted the meeting length might be discouraging Council <br />candidates. <br />Mayor Muckle observed the Council conducts a lot of business during a regular <br />meeting. He was not sure he would be able to be available at a 6:00 o'clock meeting. <br />Council member Lipton addressed the two June regular meeting agendas, seeing if any <br />items could be moved out and suggested setting an ending time. He requested a de- <br />briefing of the summer activities as a future agenda item. <br />ADJOURN <br />MOTION: Mayor Muckle moved for adjoumment, s-conded by Council member Keany. <br />All were in favor.
