IU citiyof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
May 182015
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
o A lottery will be conducted for play on Sunday June 28th, This will be
advertised on Facebook and on the City website. The cost will be $100 but no
pre -pay is required. The draw will be announced at 4pm on Saturday 27th for
the 9am shotgun start on Sunday.
o Invitations to special guests will go out this week.
o David B is organizing a photographer /videographer to cover the celebrations.
o Cory noted that she has been posting golf - related information on the 0027
Facebook page which has over 6000 followers.
c. Status of "The Mine" catering
o The extra cost for ADA updates is covered by the start -up budget. The
concessionaire has obtained the liquor license and is working on their
ambitious plans to improve the ambience. They are using the same architect
(Jeff van Sambeek) as designed the 2013 clubhouse renovation. Horizon
West has been chosen as the contractor (also working on the Old Louisville
Inn) and has experience working on catering establishments. The mining
theme of the restaurant will be carried over into the pro shop. The new
heating and air conditioning unit will be installed May 19th while the catering
equipment has been cleaned and is staged in the cart barn.
A deluxe food cart will be placed between holes 9 and 10 with emphasis on
good quality but quick -serve snacks. It will have a horse trough of cold beer.
It was suggested that a menu be displayed at the 9th tee so golfers can call
ahead orders via cell - phone. David B is targeting a 4.5 hour playing time so
wants to avoid undue delays at the turn. Marshals will enforce pace of play.
d. Tree planting schedule. CDOT is funding 72 trees to be planted on the golf course
— not just along the HWY 36 margin. 25 have already been planted on hole #16
with 9 more to go. The next phase will be to stake locations between hole #1 and
the driving range.
e. Walking tour on May 14. Overall, attendees were very pleased with progress
although concerned about the ability to complete on time. The golf carts will be
delivered prior to the June 15 Board meeting although the deal for GPS has fallen
through and is being re- thought. There is not enough time to schedule another
public tour (in carts) prior to the opening.
f. The website is making progress but, as part of the City website, it is not ready to
go live yet. Meredyth Muth is responsible for the program and the Board noted
that web developers can be notoriously unreliable. On -line tee -times will be
available in time for the June 14 pre- booking deadline but may be on
coalcreek.com, independent of the City website. Denise While is still working on
content but the issues with going live are not related to the content.
g. David Baril introduced Brady Jones, the First Assistant Professional. A Seattle -
area native, Brady studied at CU before taking up golf professional jobs at Pelican
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335 -4735 FAX (303) 335 -4738
www.louisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
5
