IU citiyof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
May 182015
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
o David Baril and David Dean both affirmed their opinion that the course will be
ready to open for public play on June 29 based on their prior experience with
similar situations in Wisconsin and on mountain courses. The ultimate
responsibility for declaring readiness will lie with LU and with David Dean to
confirm that the course can be maintained when play starts.
o The city has noted numerous cracked parts of the cart paths, some are the
responsibility of LU and some are a City liability. It is likely that these will be
repaired in the fall with a holdback on LU payments to cover any issues they
are responsible for.
o Painting has started on the clubhouse exterior and will resume when the rain
stops. Joe will present the latest financial details to City Council on May 19 and
does not anticipate any need to apply for additional funds. Work on the 2016
budget has not started yet.
o John Reilly asked what steps would be taken to put fish back in the ponds that
were drained during the repairs. The fish prevent noxious algae build up. Joe
S said he would look into buying more fish — non - reproducing grass carp.
o Ken Gambon asked if, with the FEMA funded work complete, more thought
could be given to improving water flow in the creek. Joe S responded that this
could be a long -term issue as permits would be needed from Urban Drainage
and the Army Corps of Engineers — and would be subject to review by FEMA
with a possible claim to refund FEMA funding.
b. Grand Re- opening plans
o Lisa reported on the work of the re- opening committee. The GCAB will have a
table at the event and will conduct cart (or golf -bike) tours of the course
explaining the changes.
o Neither Governor Hickenlooper nor the State Representatives have yet
responded to the invitation to attend the re- opening ceremony, typically any
response will be last- minute
o David B has not got a response to his requests for the Monarch Marching
Band and the Centaurus Honor Guard to participate. Cory offered to point him
towards the right contacts.
o Breakfast will be served at 10am followed by the speakers and the ceremonial
opening drive.
o A sample of foot golf will be set up with a "closest to the pin" contest on hole
#13 and "longest foot - drive" contest on the driving range. Foot golf holes will
be set up in 2016.
o Kevin Norby is finalizing a set of notes for the course, it was suggested that
more information should be included on his design objectives rather than just a
playing narrative. Draft yardage books will be ready for review at the June 15
Board meeting.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335 -4735 FAX (303) 335 -4738
www.louisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICE4S.
