Cityof
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
Memorandum
To: Historical Commission
From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
Date: June 24, 2015
Re: Museum Coordinator's Report
The Museum received 120 visitors during the Taste of Louisville on June 6. Many thanks to all
of the Commission members who helped at the museum during this event: Paula Elrod and
Betty Scarpella, who carried on the annual Commission tradition of making pizzelles to give out
in front of the Museum and talked with visitors, and Gladys Levis -Pilz, Julie VanLaanen, and
Dave Ferguson, who all talked with visitors. The Museum also received 60 visitors during the Art
Walk the evening before the Taste of Louisville.
The Brown Bag discussion about Main Street Memories drew 21 people and was a lot of fun.
Thank you to former Commission member Jennifer Strand for leading the discussion.
The May 15th groundbreaking for the Louisville Law Enforcement Memorial at Helburg Park was
a lovely event with members of the Helburg family, City Council members and City staff, current
and former Commission members, Louisville History Foundation directors, and members of the
public in attendance.
I was happy that Commission members and Museum volunteers were invited to an appreciation
event for City volunteers on Saturday, May 16th, and that many were in attendance. Thank you
to all of you and to the other volunteers for what you do to help the Museum and thank you to
the City for holding the event!
In early June, I replaced the front window exhibit about the Acme Mine with an exhibit of
Louisville area farm photos. Many of these farms are now open space or the areas have been
developed.
The Museum will be closed for the holiday on Saturday, July 4.
Thank you to Anne Robinson and former Commission member Diane Marino for each leading
two historic walking tours this summer. The tours are spread out from May to September and
more information is available on the Library /Museum website.
Museum Visitors Report (these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, and not inquiries
that come in by email or phone): April 2015 visitors: 154; May visitors: 283; YTD 861.
