Charles Sisk
From: Stephen Whiteman [swhitel@stanford.edu] Sent: Sat 1/5/2008 6:21 PM
To: Charles Sisk
Cc:
Subject: Application for HistoritPreservation Commission
Attachments:
Dear Mayor Sisk,
My name is Stephen Whiteman, I am writing to express my interest in joining the Louisville'Historic Preservation
Commission. I apologize that my letter is a bit late - my wife and I returned from our holiday travels earlier today,
and I just went through our collected mail
My interest in the Historic Preservation' Commission stems from my professional work and. my desire to find an
opportunity for service in my community. I am on the faculties of both the Colleges of Architecture and Planning
and Arts & Sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and am also a doctoral candidate in Art & Architectural
History at Stanford University. My research and teaching focuses on the architecture and landscape architecture of
Asia, and in .both cases, I take a special interest in'historic preservation and the importance of historic architecture
to communities.
My wife and I have lived in Louisville for over two years, recently purchasing our home on West Dahlia St. We love
Louisville and are enthusiastic both about its growth and its interest in studying and preserving its history., In
looking for a way to involved in the community, the Historic Preservation Commission seemed like a natural choice
to me. The commission's work interests me greatly, and I believe I would bring valuable insightto it.
Thankyouu for your consideration.
Best regards,
Stephen Whiteman
629 W.
