Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes January 16, 2008 Page 6 of 12 Wilson stated it may not be a specific decision it just gradually became clear they couldn't save the fayade and meet educational specifications within the budget available. Ty Gee asked if the school district could email a notice about the DA T meeting to parents so they are aware of it. He added that he felt it should have been the district's responsibility to get information out about the DA T process, not expect DA T members to do it themselves. Orr stated the school district would advertise the meeting to the larger community and try to get the word out. Bonnie McCormick, 1301 Lincoln Avenue, asked for some clarification original building assessment was completed and asked why if the pro 2003 with the building assessment, why is the community only now lea proposed demolition. Orr stated that the demolition decision was only made in the s 2007. Billy O'Donnell stated that the DA T's first goal was to education specifications, secondly they wanted to com .n under budget, and thirdly on schedule. He added that it would be possible to do anyt g to the site, including saving the building, if budget and scheduling were not an issue. Orr noted that for similar projects in the fu earlier in the design process. they will be sure to get public comments Jean Morgan stated that they school distric ds to repair the earlier errors in the process and asked if at the new eting the DA T will take public input or will the public merely be told what is going to ha en. only historic school left in town. Orr stated that at this e he was unsure of what the meeting format will be. He noted that the school district I Iso hearing a great deal of support for the original design and decision. There are diffen g values in the community and the school district is listening to all parties taking input seriously. He noted they are trying to be open and transpare the project. , Wilson, and O'Donnell for attending the meeting, sharing the e HPC, and calling another meeting at the school. O'Donnell noted that the good thing is that no final decision has been made. Megan Valentine asked how the new meeting will be advertised. Orr noted it will be on the BVSD web site. Muth added that the information will also be placed on the City's web site. At 9:05 PM Lewis called for a five minute recess.
