Approval of Minutes —
Spencer moved to approve the previous meeting's minutes as written.
Christopher seconded. The motion was passed unanimously.
V. Staff Updates —
A. Wayfinding Update
Ember passed around a rough draft of the final Wayfinding document prepared
by the consultants. It will be posted to the city website, so that staff and webpage-
reading public can look and potentially comment on it. City Council will review the
Wayfinding CIP and vote on the project in November. If approved, work would begin in
2016. Laura commented on how pleased she was with the way the signs turned out and
how helpful she found the three - dimensional view of 4- cardinal direction signs. Ember
said that the staff has already changed three things on the signs: putting the property
name on the on the top of the main signs, listing the distance "blade" signs in increasing
distance order, and possibly reducing the total number of destination blades on each
side (for simplicity). Spencer asked how large the map signs are, Ember said she
thought 18" wide on the major intersection poles. Helen asked if the map could be flush
on the pole, rather than sticking out on the sides. Ember replied that sticking the maps
out on the side means that they can be double- sided. Missy asked about the MPH signs
on the smaller sign poles. Ember answered that they could also be regulation icon
buttons or smaller distance blades. For Example on Parks, after dog and bike issues, the
three top concerns regarding citizens on the properties are: 1) groups without permits, 2)
glass containers, and 3) use after hours. Laura commented that regulation buttons
could always be added later or exchanged later as need dictated.
