Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes July 20, 2015 Page 3 of 13 Comments from Commission Fasick stated the structure not being original to Louisville puts a dent in its eligibility, but that appears to be a pattern for other structures in Louisville. Stewart agreed but stated the fact it was moved over 50 years ago still lends to its eligibility. He made a motion to approve the request. Fahey seconded the motion. Motion approved 6 to 0. PUBLIC HEARING — 1145 Main Street (Caranci House) Grant, Alteration Certificate Trice presented the information provided in staff's report. She stated the front of the house has retained its original character, while other additions have happened to the side and rear. She stated the Caranci Family has a deep involvement in the establishment of the City of Louisville. Alteration Certificate — Trice stated the applicant is requesting to remove the carport located in the rear of the structure and will add a new addition in its place. She stated the proposed addition will follow the roof line of the existing, but different materials will ensure the new addition appears different from the existing structure. Grant Request — Trice stated the applicant is requesting a grant for the following: • Windows • Removal of carport • Roof work • Painting on the front porch Trice stated all elements comply with the grant guidelines with the exception of the painting of the porch. She recommends a grant of $10,134, which includes a 20% contingency request. Sara Aglietti, applicant, stated she is excited about this request and is looking forward to moving to Louisville. Public Comments — none Commission Discussion /Comment Stewart stated the demolition plan shows the northwest corner of the building to be removed. He was curious why it was being removed.
