Local Licensing Authority
Minutes
July 27, 2015
House — Hotel and Restaurant Liquor License — 585 S. McCaslin Blvd.
Chairperson Machado noted this is a transfer of a Hotel and Restaurant Liquor
License from the former Chili's restaurant. He called for any questions from the
Authority.
Tennessen noted there seemed to be a discrepancy in the answer to question 8
on the application concerning whether there had been any suspensions of liquor
licenses by any members of the LLC. He noted the individual histories did
mention some suspensions while the application did not.
Stephan Frye, one of the members of the LLC, recalled the suspension he had
noted was at Murphy's South. He asked for clarification of the conflict and
apologized for the misunderstanding, likely created by having more than one
person filling out forms.
Tennessen asked how the owners were going to avoid problems with service in
this establishment. Mr. Frye noted it would be a matter of training employees
and as owners they would also take part in training. He said they would not only
concentrate on not serving minors, but also not over -serving. Both are a daily
concern.
Corporal Gordanier mentioned the Louisville Police Department partners with
Lafayette to provide seller/server training on a quarterly basis.
Hervey noted there is a population of younger CU students in the area of this
restaurant and cautioned the owner's to be aware.
Authority Attorney Light suggested if the Authority chooses to approve the
transfer application, they could direct the applicant to correctly answer question 8
and provide the additional information concerning the prior incidents. The
application could also be approved with a condition of completion of those
changes.
Lipton moved to approve the transfer of the liquor license to Murphy's Tap House
with direction to complete question 8 on the application, Seconded by
Tennessen. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote (summary: Yes = 5).
Yes: Lipton, Tennessen, Carlson, Hughes, Machado.
Police Department Reports
Corporal Cristi Gordanier noted State Liquor Enforcement is working closely with
the Police Department to provide training for the officers on liquor investigations.
Authority Attorney's Report
No report.
