Lafayette did not contact Louisville. Their original
contention was that Louisville did not participate and
the County and Lafayette were going to buy it by
themselves, excluding Louisville entirely. That's where
Davidson got involved, because he didn't want the County
and the City of Lafayette controlling a piece of land,
which is effectively in Louisville, with Louisville
having no say on what goes on there.

4.)

There is a signed letter of intent between Lastokas and
the Boulder County to purchase the property for
$11,000.00/acre. The Lastokas have signed a contract.
The have to sell for $11,000.00/acre, if the County
chooses to exercise that. The County and Lafayette are
going to do that with or without the City of Louisville.
Council's choice has come down to does Louisville want to
participate and have some control over that corner, or
does the City want Boulder County and Lafayette to do it?

Davidson explained that if Louisville participates the City gets
several things:

1.) For a very, very low cost, Louisville gets to build the
ball field complex that it needs.
2.) They've agreed that anytime in the future that the City
Shops or the Waste Water Treatment Plant needs to expand,
the City can acquire additional acreage at
$11,000.00/acre.
3.) The County has agreed to buy half of the Aquarius
property, so that the City's net cost ends up being about
$150,000.00. For that the City will get 20 acres of ball
field, which the City can annex to Louisville. The net
cost will be approximately $7,500/acre for ball fields.

Davidson stated that considering the circumstances, Louisville's
participation is the best thing Louisville can do.

Howard:

The City is in a position of being
bullied by Boulder County and City
of Lafayette. Yes, we have to
participate, but that does not say
that we don't have the right to go
to those land owners and ask them,
"Look, if we pay your penalty
clauses and we give you a
substantial increased amount of
money, if you come directly with the
City of Louisville." Then, it's in
our best interest to at least try.
If that fails, we're always in the
other agreement. We can't give up
our options.
