IU city,,,
Louisville
Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
September 21 2015
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
members, regardless of expiration and a subsequent email was sent to correct
that error.
b. The website is live and has been launched. Some issues remain with the
carousel template but otherwise it is functional. "Course Trends" functionality
includes the ability to send out email blasts. The address list inherited from WGP
includes 8000 items, 96% are still active. Newsletters were sent out using this
method on 8/28 and 9/11. The Coal Creek Golf website saw 3000 visits, 2400 of
which were from unique addresses. 75% of the visits originate from the email
blasts, 15% from search engines and 12% "other." Highest traffic is from 10am
to 3pm on Friday and traffic peaks shortly following each email blast. The Board
suggested that we find a way to automate golfer feedback and encourage
response by offering a token gift or discount. A flyer on the golf course will be
included in the next utility bill mailing (email and hard copy) and this will include
promotions for lessons and club fitting.
c. Denise will give a further update at the October Board meeting as part of the
Marketing Plan presentation. The next Parks and Recreation handbook will be
issued in December and will include golf course information. The Board
suggested that Coal Creek be promoted at the Golf Expo, February 19th — 21st
2016 in Denver. Cost for a Booth is $1200 and the Board agreed to supply
volunteers for the 3 day event. A local ad to book a tee time was placed via
Facebook targeting the Superior, Lafayette, Boulder, Broomfield and Louisville
areas. At a cost of only $70 it attracted 185 site clicks and was seen by 6000
Facebook clients. The intent is to achieve 3 postings per week on the Coal
Creek Facebook page: it currently has 129 likes and the drone flyover video
attracted 520 hits. It was noted that personal stories and testimonials were more
effective than simple promotional postings. We also discussed ensuring the golf
course is represented in the 2016 Labor Day Parade.
d. Plans for club house restaurant: the Board regretted the fact that the Mine
concessionaire terminated their tenure after only two months, Sarah and her
team provided good service to golfers. This change has tied up most of David
B's attention for the past month which is unfortunate but, as of September 21st,
the transfer to city management is complete. The budget for the remainder of
2015 and for 2016 has been updated to take into account this change in the
business model. The liquor license has been transferred and the Board of Health
will do an inspection on Friday but have authorized business to continue pending
that check. Transfer of credit card operations is also complete. An experienced
cook, Nick Allen, has been hired and will start offering a limited service with
immediate effect. Two other employees have been hired, one an existing
member of the Mine staff. An issue may exist over the continuing use of "The
Mine" name but this is felt to have value and the Board encouraged further
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335 -4735 FAX (303) 335 -4738
www.louisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
5
