IU citiyof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
September 21 2015
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
and finally the rough. No fertilizer application for fairways has been needed since
August on fairways while greens are fertilized every two weeks. Ammonium
sulfate will be applied wall -to -wall later this year. Nothing new on the CU sign by
the 16th green. The golf bikes remain popular — the "quick adjust" for seat height
has finally been received.
c. Lisa reported complaints from some of the older ladies that the tee markers were
hard to see (tripping hazard) and hard to identify which tee was which. Sandy
noted that the Strokers play from the "Pick and Shovel" tees on hole #16. When
that tee marker is not on the front box on the upper level, many players have
problems in hitting the ball far enough to see where it lands or carrying the rough.
This is very penalizing and wastes time in finding balls. David was asked to bear
this in mind when placing the markers for Wednesday mornings.
6. Board and Staff discussion on YTD business and finance:
a. David B presented a list of metrics he has used in previous jobs. These match
well with the list included in the GCAB letter sent to Council, with the informal
analysis he and Sandy have done for July and August and with the list of key
metrics created by Heikke. David is working with Club Prophet to automate
collection of these metrics from the detailed summary although he noted that the
initial training provided by Club Prophet was poor. He estimated that Club
Prophet would charge about $20K to perfect the data collection and said he was
not willing to make that investment at present. The Board suggested that would
be a good investment if avoided taking time every month to parse the data
manually. David expects to have the first cut of this report ready for the October
GCAB meeting. Before then, Ken will meet with him and other Staff members as
necessary to decide on the appropriate level of detail — enough to support
management decisions without sensitive business data being posted as public
documents. July and August were consistent in terms of overall rounds,
revenues and utilization. It was noted that there was a fall -off in rounds on
weekend afternoons now that football season has started. Sunday remains the
busiest day for play followed by Saturday and Friday. Many courses charge
weekend rate on Friday but we consider keeping Friday at weekday rate gives a
competitive advantage. Complimentary rounds are being kept at a minimal level
— although, for example, the CU Womens team were given a complimentary
event to try to woo them away from Colorado National. Conversion of Peak
Player Memberships to Acme /Ajax is slower than expected although several
Peak Players have upgraded to Imperial /Regal memberships which are being
bought at a higher rate than expected. Emails are being sent to Peak Players 30
days in advance of membership expiration with a follow -up reminder 7 days
before expiration. Due to an error, such an email was sent to all Peak Player
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335 -4735 FAX (303) 335 -4738
www.louisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICE4S.
