Business Plan - $10 k has been approved by the City for a Museum <br />Business Plan, and Bridget is now working on a Request for Proposals for <br />it. <br />VIII. Update on Needs Assessment Process <br />A. Paula and Bridget went to Historic Preservation Commission. The members <br />expressed support for a new Museum building. On September 17th, Paula and <br />Bridget will go to the Cultural Council. <br />B. Update on Process for having Historic Structure Assessments completed for the <br />Tomeo House and Jacoe Store Buildings: Lauren, Bridget, and Beth Barrett have <br />put together an application to the state to request funding to have the historic <br />structure assessment done. This is a non - competitive application process. <br />IX. Planning for City Council Study Session (September 8, 2015, 7 pm, Library) <br />A. Dan Mellish met with Missy Diehl and Catherine Wessling from the History <br />Foundation to plan the presentation. Beth also participated. Dan will lead it off <br />and then introduce Missy. Presentation will help clarify difference between <br />Historical Commission and Historical Foundation. They are trying to have this be <br />a true study session and have it be interactive and a dialog, not an information <br />dump. They will try to address construction of the new building, timeline, etc. <br />B. Timeframe Goals for Dan to request: Architectural design done in 2017, with <br />construction to start in 2018 -2019. <br />C. When considering funding for the new Visitors Center building at the Museum, <br />we need to include on -going operational cost. The Business Plan should give <br />recommendations on the operational costs. The current operating budget for the <br />Museum in 2015 is $74,430. <br />X. Chairperson's Report: No additional report. <br />XI. Pioneer Award: Members discussed potential candidates for this award. A decision for <br />this award will be made at the November meeting. <br />XII. Items of Common Interest with the Historic Preservation Commission: Lynda Haley <br />was not at the meeting, but Debby Fahey from HPC talked about altering the demo <br />permit process for historic properties. Also discussed how HPC members have been <br />attending the Farmer's Market to inform the public about what they are working on. <br />4 <br />
