<br />City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />April 8, 2008 <br />Page 2 of6 <br /> <br />Don Atwood, Cultural Council <br />Nisa Bradley, Library Trustee <br />Meredith Davis, Library Trustee <br />Eileen Patrick, Library Trustee <br />Alicia Mohoney, Library Trustee <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested those in attendance introduce themselves. <br /> <br />2. Presentation/Update - Youth Advisory Board (YAB) <br />Megan Valentine, chairperson, presented the activities that the YAB had <br />participated in over the last year. Megan also discussed the goals that the YAB <br />had established for the next year. She pointed out the Poetry Slam that will be <br />taking place April 12th and encouraged Council members and staff to attend the <br />event. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked what the Council can do to assist the Y AB and members of the <br />Y AB said that if the Council has ideas for events or things that the Y AB can do <br />that information would be helpful and to spread by word-of-mouth the different <br />events that the Y AB is involved in. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella asked why they chose to participate in the YAB. <br />Various members said that they enjoyed helping others and it was a great <br />opportunity to see how government works and to give input into different issues <br />that are happening in the community. Mayor Pro Tem Marsella asked for more <br />information on the Poetry Slam. Megan Valentine said it was an opportunity for <br />youth to share their opinions and/or view of the world through poetry either <br />written by themselves or by others. Megan also said that participants act out the <br />poetry . <br /> <br />Mandy Perera, staff liaison, said that this years YAB members were an <br />exceptional group. That they were younger than previous years but they work <br />well together and that Megan Valentine's leadership has set a good example. <br /> <br />3. City Manger Items <br />Kathy Martin, staff liaison to the Cultural Council, asked Mayor Sisk if they could <br />wait about 5 minutes for other Cultural Council members to arrive. Mayor Sisk <br />moved to item 5 on the agenda, City Manager Items. <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming went through the Advance Agenda. City Manager Fleming <br />pointed out the April 29th Boulder County Commissioners Dinner at 5:30 PM in <br />the 1st Floor Meeting Room of the Library and the May 7th Joint Meeting with <br />BVSD from 3:30 - 6:30 PM at the Louisville Middle School (LMS). City Manager <br />Fleming stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the LMS <br />renovations and the demolition of the LMS fayade. <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming also informed Council about the Open House on April 10th <br />at the Municipal Court for the Parks & Recreation Director candidates.
