NONE

Davidson asked if the applicant wished to make any closing
comments.

Long:

I believe all of the elements
justifying the issuance of a license
have been satisfied.

Davidson closed the Public Hearing.

Sisk moved that the Local Licensing Authority of the City of
Louisville find that the applicant is of good moral character, the
inhabitants of the neighborhood desire that the license be granted,
that the license will meet the reasonable requirements of the
neighborhood, that all City requirements and the requirements of
the State law have been met and that, based on these findings, the
Local Licensing Authority approve issuance of the license applied
for. Seconded by Mayer. Roll call was taken. Motion passed by a
6 - 0 vote with Howard being absent.

DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - BOULDER VELO (COAL MINER CLASSIC BICYCLE
CRITERIUM) - SUNDAY, AUGUST 8, 1993.

Dailey Riley, President of the Boulder Velo Club (local cycling
club - 180 members in the Front Range), asked Council for a permit
for the multi-lap, short coarse bicycle race in downtown Louisville
on Sunday, August 8 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They
felt that the race would compliment the Taste of Louisville, which
is the day before. Riley stated that they are a non-profit
corporation and, if the race is profitable, they hope to donate
money, hopefully up to a dollar, from each competitors entry fees
to Louisville's Police Department Dare Program. They had already
met with Dianne Shanks, Steve Baysinger, Parks & Recreation
Director, Tom Phare, Public Works Director, and Don Glass, Public
Safety, to get a list of their concerns regarding this event. He
stated that through their event permit with the United States
Cycling Federation they can provide a $1+ million liability
insurance policy for the event, including the City of Louisville
and any other involved parties. The Club will provide all the
marshall's manpower to stage the event. He explained that, if
there are necessary costs to the City, as far as personnel from the
Police Department or Public Works that need to be addressed, they
are also willing to pay for them, as long as they can afford it.

Davidson called for Council questions.

Mayer wondered how much of the road would be closed.

Riley:

The streets we're asking to close
are South, Spruce, Main, and Front,
a four block area, plus about a half

7
