ORDINANCE NO. 1114, SERIES 1993 - AMENDING CHAPTER 2.36 OF THE
LOUISVI?~m MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO ELECTIONS - 2ND READING -
PUBLIC HEARING (PUBL. LSVL. TIMES 7/7/93)

Griffiths read by title only Ordinance No. 1114, Series 1993, "An
ordinance amending Chapter 2.36 of the Louisville Municipal Code
relating to elections."

Susan Griffiths, City Attorney, stated that Ordinance No. 1114 is
part of the continuing effort to update the current City Code to
conform to State laws and, particularly, this year with the 1993
changes to the election laws applicable to the city and to remove
out dated provisions. She explained that there were at least two
pieces of legislation enacted in 1993 that changes those laws. The
Ordinance recognizes that the Uniform Election Code will apply to
the 1993 City election, which will be conducted by the County
Clerk, as a coordinated election with other governmental entities
in the area. She pointed out that there is a change in circulation
of nomination petitions under the Uniform Election Code. The dates
for nomination are earlier under the U.E.C. than they are under the
current Election Code and they would be circulated from the 91st
day to the 71st day prior to the November election.

Davidson opened the public hearing asking for anyone in the
audience wishing to speak in favor or against Ordinance No. 1114.

NONE

Davidson closed the public hearing.

Howard moved that Council accept Ordinance No. 1114, Series 1993,
amending Chapter 2.36 of the Louisville Municipal Code relating to
elections.
