This
year the Authority wants to raise the surcharge from $.38 to $.50
per month per telephone subscriber, which is $1.44/yr. raise.
Bill McKay, Boulder County Sheriff's Department, P.O. Box 3214,
Boulder, Colorado, stated that the increases are planned to meet
the increases that would be expected from U.S. West for increases
in their services and maintenance of the system. He stated that
they had planned at the initial onset of the system that there be
an increase of $.38 to $.45 at the end of the fifth year. The
reason it moved to $.50 is because last year the Legislature
approved the funding of poison control out of 911 funds, as well.
He stated that in the Intergovernmental Agreement that Council
signed five years ago, it set the limit of $.50.

Howard stated that the citizens of Louisville should be allowed to
participate in a public meeting.

Howard moved that Council approved Resolution No. 32, Series 1993,
a resolution requesting that the Boulder Regional Emergency
Telephone Service Authority hold a public meeting on its proposed
1994 budget.
