1„ City <br />of <br />Om Louisville <br />COLORADO SINCE 1878 <br />Open Space Advisory Board Meeting Minutes <br />Wednesday, January 13th, 2015 <br />Louisville Public Library: First Floor Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 pm <br />I. Call to Order- Helen called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm. <br />II. Roll Call - <br />Board Members Present: Helen Moshak, Mike Schantz, Christopher Smith, <br />Laura Scott Denton, Linda Smith, Missy Davis, Spencer Guthrie, Graeme <br />Patterson <br />Board Members Absent: none <br />City Council Members Present: none <br />Staff Members Present: Ember Brignull <br />III. Approval of Agenda - <br />Linda moved to approve the agenda as written. Spencer seconded. The motion <br />was passed unanimously. <br />IV. Approval of Minutes - <br />Ember mentioned that a citizen letter and the OSAB letter to the Lafayette Open <br />Space board had been added to the minutes. Mike commented that on section V. of the <br />minutes the word "steer" was used in reference to his comment about the new Parks <br />Board ( "Mike suggested that maybe OSAB can help steer the new Parks Advisory Board <br />towards thinking about an alternative dog park. "). He would prefer the minutes use a <br />less heavy- handed sounding word to describe his intentions towards the Parks Advisory <br />Board, such as "collaborate with." Ember said she would change this. Linda moved to <br />approve the minutes with the aforementioned alteration. Chris seconded. The motion <br />was passed unanimously. <br />V. Staff Updates - <br />A. Open Space staff is doing some Russian olive removal. The Parks Division <br />has applied for a grant to assist in funding removal of Russian olive trees. If the grant is <br />awarded there may be consideration for removal of the large Russian olives that were <br />planted as a windbreak on the Warembourg property. Helen asked whether volunteers <br />can remove Russian olives. Ember answered yes, but that it needs to be coordinated <br />with Open Space staff, since staff paints the stumps with herbicide to prevent re- <br />sprouting. <br />B. The Open Space education /volunteer program calendar for 2016 has been <br />drafted. It will be presented to OSAB for discussion and review in February. <br />C. Open Space Staff are still working on the ArcView mapping project. <br />D. This year Open Space Staff are requesting that all multi -day volunteers submit <br />an application by April 1st. This will not be a requirement for one -time projects, and <br />exceptions will be made possible.
