L <br />Job Bulletin Page 1 of 4 <br />Cityo <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />invites applications for the position of: <br />Ranger Naturalist <br />An Equal Opportunity Employer <br />SALARY: $17.21 - $19.79 Hourly <br />$35,796.80 - $41,163.20 Annually <br />HIRING RANGE $17.21 - $19.79 <br />OPENING DATE: 01/22/16 <br />CLOSING DATE: 02/10/16 03:00 PM <br />OVERVIEW: <br />Under general supervision of the Open Space Manager, the Ranger Naturalist will assist the <br />Parks & Recreation Department in carrying out the objectives of the Department as identified in <br />the Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Master Plan. Duties are performed with <br />independence in the field; making decisions requiring the use of judgment, discretion, and <br />diplomacy. The Ranger Naturalist will act as an ambassador for the Open Space, Parks, and <br />Trails departments. Duties will be performed on foot, bicycle and vehicle patrol to protect <br />citizens, natural resources and amenities. This position will inform visitors and disseminate <br />information on local rules and regulations; may ticket for minor violations. The Ranger Naturalist <br />duties may also include, but are not limited to: providing first aid /CPR, assisting with City <br />sponsored volunteer activities and outreach projects, providing trail maintenance, assisting with <br />snow removal, conducting visitor use surveys, assisting with GIS mapping, and providing <br />periodic education outreach. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br />• Provides recurring patrol presence along 30 + miles of City trails, Open Space and Parks <br />on foot, bicycle or by vehicle. <br />• Patrols Open Space and Park amenities /facilities and provides information regarding visitor <br />safety. <br />▪ Initiates and maintains community based relationships with schools and other local <br />organizations in support of interpretive open space programs and parks projects. <br />• Demonstrates knowledge of and enforces the City of Louisville municipal code or other <br />rules, regulations and or City codes pertaining to parks and open space operations within <br />the City including the issuance of citations. <br />• Contacts the Police Department, or the Colorado Division of Parks & Wildlife, when <br />situations warrant actions which are beyond the duties of the Ranger Naturalist. <br />• Notes and reports safety hazards and maintenance issues and/or natural resource <br />concerns to supervisors. <br />• Assists with the repair and maintenance of trails, open space, and other park facilities. <br />• Interacts with public while on duty to provide information on natural history, management <br />policies, current projects, visitor opportunities, education and enforcements. <br />• Assists the public by providing directions and responding to questions and inquiries. <br />• Monitors conditions, use patterns and races or special events, taking action when <br />resources are being damaged or conditions are dangerous. <br />http: // agency. governmentjobs. comllouisvilleco /job_b3u11etin.cfrn ?jobID= 1338875 &shared... 1/25/2016 <br />
