Tho following year remove and replace Contonnial east courts ($168K). In 2019,
remove and replace court at Mission Green (584K).
Please describe why this project is needed, how it supports City -wide goals and
objoctivos, what realistic options or alternatives have boon considered, and what payback,
or return on investment has been calculated:
Courts aro in nood of repair andlor replacement
Centennial West Courts - Asphalt lift on top of concrete creates costly maintenance due to
continued crack sooting and resurfacing requirements. Need to romovo asphalt layor.
Payback on tho west courts could occur In about 6 years. Current spending is close to
58,000 annually In resurfacing. Even with annual resurfacing, courts aro no longer usable
for a full year.
Centennial East Courts - Old courts. Fencing becoming compromised, asphalt base for
surface creates high maintenance. Noed to replace with post- tension concrete surface
and now fence. Post- tonsion concroto eliminates a lot of tho shifting and cracking that
occurs in asphalt courts. Annual expenditures are close to $2,600 or payback could occur
in 38 yoars. Well before cost recover occurs, failures with fencing and surface will create
unsafe conditions for users of tho courts.
Mission Green Court - Asphalt base court. Costly maintenance duo to continued
cracking. Sponding about 56.000 annually to resurface. Cost recovery In about 14 years.
Availablo option is to delay Improvements which will load to increased spending on
maintenance. Eventually fencing will fail and cracking could bocomo sovoro loading to
closuros.
Please provide a description of any grants andlor other revonue associated with this
project and the ongoing operational and /maintenance costs associated with this projoct:
By completion of this project, o gpJns_m, lntenanco costs will decrease duo to less
resurfacing needed.
