Louisville City Council Meeting <br />April 1, 2003 <br />Page 3 of 22 <br /> <br />CONSIDERATON OF CONTRIBUTION TO LOUISVILLE CHAMBER OF <br /> COMMERCE FOR MARKETING <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons reported the Finance Committee met with Gene Caranci of the <br />Louisville Chamber of Commerce. Caranci presented a request for the City Council to <br />support an advertising campaign for City businesses in the Boulder Daily Camera. The <br />City would contribute up to $5,000 in 2003 to help underwrite a "Shop Louisville" page <br />to be published monthly between April and December. The page will also include <br />information about Louisville Events. Louisville businesses will be notified of the <br />program in a letter to be sent by the Chamber, and will receive a 20-25% discount on <br />their advertising when they are included in the Louisville page. He noted the Finance <br />Committee agreed to support the request, with the funding to come from the Council <br />Contingency account. <br /> <br />MOTION: Keany moved that Council approve a $5,000 contribution to the Louisville <br />Chamber of Commerce for marketing, seconded by Levihn. Roll call vote was taken. <br />The motion passed by a vote of 6-0. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1413, SERIES 2003 - AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING <br />CERTAIN PROPERTY AS BEING REQUIRED FOR THE PUBLIC USE FOR <br />HIGHWAY 42/96TM STREET CONNECTION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE ACQUISITION THEREOF THROUGH NEGOTIATION AND OR <br />CONDEMNATION - 2"d reading - public hearing (advertised Daily Camera 3/8/03) <br /> <br />Sisk called for City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />City Attorney Sam Light read revised Ordinance No. 1413, Series 2003 and noted a <br />second reading amendment, in Section 1, regarding the legal description of the property. <br /> <br />Sisk called for Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Tom Phare explained the proposed Highway 42/96th Street <br />improvement would traverse through the northwest corner of CTC. To construct the <br />project it is necessary the City acquire property for right-of-way purposes within Lot 4, <br />Block 1, and Lot 5, Block 1, in the Business Center at CTC. It is intended to pursue the <br />property acquisition through negotiations, however, if negotiations are not effective, Staff <br />is seeking authority, as contained in the City Charter, to enter in to the condemnation <br />process to acquire one or both of the properties. <br /> <br />Sisk opened the public hearing and asked if anyone in the audience wished to speak for or <br />against Ordinance No. 1413, Series 2003. There were no comments. <br /> <br />MOTION: Keany moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1413, Series 2003, with <br />the second reading amendments, seconded by Brown.
