All in <br />favor. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - COUNCIL AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE <br />WITH BOULDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR ATHLETIC FIELD <br />IMPROVEMENTS AT MONARCH HIGH SCHOOL AND AUTHORIZATION <br />TO STAFF TO NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT FOR SAME <br /> <br />Sisk called for Staff presentation. <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported on discussions relative to the City's participation <br />with the Boulder Valley School District for Monarch High School athletic field <br />improvements. This would consist of covering the field with artificial turf and related <br />work. If approved by Council, an agreement would be negotiated with the Boulder Valley <br />School District that would allow the City to schedule use of the fields for City activities <br />in exchange for a financial contribution. The amount that is available for this purpose <br />from the use tax collected for school assistance will be determined and recommended by <br />the Finance Committee. The Committee to negotiate the agreement will include Mayor <br />Pro Tem Chuck Sisk and the City Manager, and after the terms have been agreed upon <br />with the School District, a formal agreement will be forwarded for Council consideration. <br />Simmons stated the cost of the project is estimated at $700,000 and noted the school <br />assistance use tax sunsets in December 2003. <br /> <br />Sisk called for public comment.
