Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />April 16 2008 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />B. Meredyth invited members to attend a roundtable discussion on Historic <br />Preservation and Economic Development on May 22, 7:00 PM, that the City <br />is sponsoring. <br />C. Meredyth stated that the City Manager is currently reviewing staffing requests <br />from all departments for 2009. Meredyth submitted a request for the Museum <br />Coordinator's position to be full-time and for an additional part-time staff <br />person. Decisions regarding staffing will be made by the City Manager as a <br />part of the 2009 budget process. <br />D. Meredyth has received a request from the Recreation Center staff putting on <br />Touch-A-Truck to ask the Commission members if anyone has any vehicles <br />that could be displayed during the event. <br />E. Meredyth reported that August 12 has been tentatively set for the date for the <br />Commission to meet with the City Council in a study session. <br />F. Meredyth invited anyone interested to attend the May 7 joint meeting of the <br />City Council and Boulder Valley School Board to discuss the demolition of <br />Louisville Middle School -May 7, 3:30 - 6:30 PM at the middle school. <br />XI. Museum Coordinator's Report <br />A. Deeds of Gifts from Donors <br />1. Don Ross -roll of barbed wire acquired from Timothy Seeber <br />2. Cynda Collins Arsenault -scan of photograph of Charles Hake <br />3. John Leary -blank receipt book from Jannucci Meat Market <br />4. Barbara Hesson -photographs of Bill Schutz and of Labor Day festivities <br />acquired from Pat McHugh <br />B. Correspondence and News Coverage -new Superior Historian; Superior <br />Historical Commission program on April 24; publicity about last play to be <br />performed in the former Louisville High School auditorium; and information <br />about Homer Hickham, author of Rocket Boys, speaking at CU on April 18 <br />C. Visitor's Report <br />1. March: 99 visitors <br />2. Year-to-Date: 250 visitors <br />D. Activity Report <br />1. Bridget waived the fee for the Downtown Business Association to use a <br />historic photo from the Museum's collection for an ad in the Yellow <br />Scene. The Yellow Scene recently named Louisville as having the best <br />downtown and recognized several downtown businesses. <br />2. Bridget has put up an exhibit of mining artifacts from the Historical <br />Museum at the Louisville Public Library, in connection with the One Book <br />/ One Boulder County book selection, Rocket Boys, which takes place in <br />a coal mining community. <br />3. Bridget has gathered about 25 historic photos of buildings and street <br />scenes from the Museum's collection for Dick DelPizzo to use in creating <br />additional model buildings for his replica. <br />4. Several students from Northglenn High School visited the Museum to do <br />research for class projects. <br />5. Bridget gave new Commission members Sean and Anne a tour and <br />orientation at the Museum. <br />6. New track lighting has been installed at the Museum by City staff. <br />
