Resource Conservation Advisory Board
Minutes
March 10, 2008
Public Comments:
Kathy Kimberlin -There are large amounts of recyclable materials left at the
bus stop at Via Appia & South Boulder road. Her family removed 17 trash
bags worth. Is there any possibility of getting recycle bins and/or trash cans
at that location?
Tom Phare responded that he would discuss the matter with RTD and the
Parks department to see if anything can be arranged. Cost is an issue for the
city.
Laura Robinson: She has recently completed a Masters thesis about plastic
bag usage (such as grocery store bags). She wanted to know if there was
any possibility of developing programs to reduce plastic bag usage in the city.
Mark Persichetti responded that we would look into the possibility of those
types of programs.
Discussion:
LRCAB will meet with the city council at their 6/24 meeting for a joint meeting.
Board of Adjustment and Board of Building Code appeals will also be meeting
at that time. Possible topics of discussion raised were:
- Greenpoints / BuildSmart program
- Changes to the Comprehensive Plan to include Natural Resources /
Environment section developed 2 years ago
- Possible implementation of parts of Boulder County Sustainable Energy
Plan, which was already adopted by the council. All LRCAB members
were asked to review the document, and rank their top few points from the
plan.
- Xcel Energy will be putting on an Energy Conservation talk 5/28 at the
library
Meeting was adjourned at 9:05 pm
Board Members Present: Beth Armbuster, Mark Persichetti, Jenny Braus,
Annie Hughs, Ryan Hughes, Richard Smith
Board Members Absent: Victor Goldberg
Staff Members Present: Tom Phare
Guests: Lauren Albers
City of Louisville
Public Works Department 749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4608 (phone) 303.335.4738 (fax) www_ci_louisville_co_us
