Lathrop stated that he would not want to give up any part of the
city's ownership of the Aquarius property in order to gain some
part of ownership of this parcel. He wanted more information.

Davidson stated that he would present to Stewart that the County
and Lafayette buy it as their share of the buffer, since they did
not participate in the Aquarius property. The Intergovernmental
Agreement allows annexation of that property by Lafayette or
Louisville, if it is presented for purchase and the entities decide
not to purchase.

Sisk moved that Council direct Mayor Davidson to discuss this
matter with Commissioner Stewart on January 5, 1994, and bring the
information back to Council. Seconded by Howard. Ail in favor.

DISCUSSION/DIRECTION LOCAL OFFICE REQUIREMENT OF SCRIPPS HOWARD
CAB?m COMPANY UNDER SECTION llb OF CITY OF LOUISVILLE CABLE
TEI~"~ISIONFRANCHISE PERMIT AGREEN~NTANDSECTION 40FAMENDMENTTO
CIH~ OF LOUISVI?~m CABLE TE?.~VISION FRANCHISE PERMIT AGREEMENT

Chris Miller, Assistant to the City Administrator, stated that Mr.
Griffin was present at this meeting to answer any questions and
review the December 16, 1993, letter Griffin had sent to Miller.

Greg Griffin, General Manager, Scripps Howard Cable Company,
proposed that Scripps Howard cancel their contract with Business
Answers and reopen their 1055 East Lafayette location. It houses
all of their electronic and satellite equipment, studio, serves as
a hub for their local technicians, and serves as a warehouse for
their construction equipment and machinery. He felt it could be
reopened in 60 days. He wondered if the~city would be willing to
work with them on the road improvements on East Lafayette.

Davidson thought maybe the city staff could look into improving the
road with the property owners.

Hornbostel wondered if the roof had been fixed.

Griffin stated that the roof was in good repair and he had never
seen any cockroaches or rodents in the building. He stated that
there are no structural problems with that facility at all.

Mayer wondered what the office hours would be and what services
would be provided.

Griffin stated that there would be both technical staff and
technicians, with a Scripps Howard employee running the office
probably 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday with a local phone number. It would be a full
sexwice office. There will be a fiber optic line, so they will be
linked with their cable billing system.

12
