<br />City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />May 13, 2008 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br />government needs to take the lead and he felt this is the right thing to do and the <br />right time to do it. <br /> <br />Councilor Dave Clabots said he felt with time renewable energy would drive the <br />costs down and would be more economical in the long term. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk said that he felt the City should pick a project with the County and <br />pursue it. <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming and Assistant City Manager Balser said that they would be <br />happy to talk to County. <br /> <br />4. Discussion - Draft of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Health and <br />Wellness (Metro Mayors Caucus) <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk said that this MOU was to promote health and wellness as a priority <br />in the Metro Denver Communities. Mayor Sisk said that it is a continuation of the <br />walk and live components of cities like Commerce and Broomfield. The Mayor <br />said that each community is to enact 6 components listed in the MOU and <br />pointed out that Louisville already does at least six. The Mayor said that a press <br />conference will be held on July 20th concerning this MOU. <br /> <br />Councilor Sackett expressed his enthusiasm for the MOU. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Balser pointed out that the City will be starting its <br />Farmer's Market this Saturday. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk indicated that it would be on the June 3rd agenda and the resolution <br />would allow the Mayor to sign the final version of the MOU. <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton said that he thought it would be a good idea to have a periodic <br />report on how the City is doing regarding the different components. <br /> <br />5. City Manager Items - <br />City Manager Fleming reviewed the Advanced Agenda <br /> <br />Council Bob Muckle inquired about the Library Agreement. City Manager Fleming <br />said that he hopes that there will be an agreement by the June 3rd City Council <br />Meeting. He said that what the taskforce is working on is accepting Superior's <br />purposed amount if they agree to certain steps in forming a Library District. <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming informed Council about a sewer backup at Sycamore <br />Circle that involved eight residential properties. He said that he went to the <br />neighborhood and talked to the residents and looked at the damage of some of <br />the homes. He said that he would be presenting a resolution regarding sewer <br />backups which would increase the amount the City pays, and include restoration <br />and damage caused by City water meter leaks. <br />
