Louisville Biathlon, now in its fourth year, <br />has become the traditional season opener on the <br />Colorado Triathlon/]Biathlon schedule. First held <br />in April of 1984, i-t has produced winners who have <br />gone on to national and world championship titles. <br />The race has earned the reputation of being one of <br />the most well organized races in the state. Each <br />year more competitors come to run the streets of <br />Louisville and cycle=_ the challenge of the Morgul <br />Bismark. In 1985 and 1986 the race was held to <br />benefit the American Diabetes Association and over <br />$20,000 was raised. In 1988, the new benefactor <br />is the Colorado Special Olympics, specifically <br />Boulder County Special Olympics. All expenses <br />will be covered by grace revenue and net proceeds <br />will be donated to ithe Colorado Special Olympics. <br />Mohr moved and Anderson seconded Council approval <br />of sponsorship and ithe necessary street closures <br />for the 1988 Louisville Biathlon. Unanimous. <br />RESOLUTION #12 - FINDING OF FACTS AND CONCLUSION - MENKICK WEST <br />ANNEXATION City Attorney, Steve Williamson, recommended that <br />this Resolution #12 and the following two <br />Ordinances relating to the Menkick West Annexation <br />petition be continued. The Town of Superior has <br />filed a petition wii~h the District Court and until <br />that issue has been resolved, staff recommends <br />continuation. <br />Mayor Fauson moved and Mohr seconded to continue <br />Resolution #12, Series 1988. (See above) <br />AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD BID - PIRATES PARK <br />PROJECT Lillo explained thai~ on March 8, 1988, <br />construction bids for the Pirate's Park Renovation <br />Project were opened,. Eleven bids were received <br />with the low bidder,, Sierra Landscaping of <br />Boulder, coming in at $19,450. The engineering <br />estimate for the project was $19,700. <br />Improvements includE~ the installation of a new <br />irrigation system and miscellaneous landscape <br />improvements. This project was identified in the <br />City's CIP. Staff recommends Council award the <br />Pirate's Park Renovation Project to Sierra <br />Landscaping at their low bid of $19,450. <br />2 <br />
