Sackett stated that his concerns relate to having
a street closure and the possibility of people
with alcoholic beverages on Harding. He also
expressed and concerns related to minors accessing
alcohol at a high school graduation party. The
number of guests being invited to a party in a
residential zone is another concern of Sackett's
and it would be his recommendation to move the
party to a place where that many guests could be
accommodated. Sackett stated that he received
telephone calls regarding signatures on a petition
that was circulated by the Lambrecht's. Some
people in the neighborhood are not in favor of
this party and fuel that their objections were not
represented.
Ferris stated that the petition was circulated in
a voluntary manner by the Lambrecht's. It is the
duty of the City Clerk to notify by first class
mail all residents within 200 ft. of the property
of the public hearing for this permit request.
Sackett stated that he is not comfortable with
supporting the concept of having "such a loud
event with the possibility of alcohol in the
neighborhood." Sackett stated that if it is
Council's pleasure to go ahead with the public
hearing, he would not be able to support that
motion.
The City Attorney also will prepare comments
regarding these issues for Council at the time of
the public hearing.
Mayor Fauson moved and Scarpella seconded to set a
public hearing to consider the live music permit
and street closure for May 3, 1988. The motion
passed 6-1 with Sackett voting no.
OTHER: None.
PUBLIC COMMENTS None.
COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE
REPORTS None.
RECESS Mayor Fauson moved that Council recess to a
Council Work Session.
CALL TO ORDER Mayor Fauson called the meeting back to order.
7
