Cities requested the proclamation requesting all
citizens voluntarily participate in various clean
air programs during the 1988-1989 winter in order
to help minimize air pollution on certain days.
APPOINTMENT TO BOULDER COUNTY CLEAN AIR
CONSORTIUM During the past several months, several Boulder
County private and public sector leaders have
worked to create tree Boulder County Clean Air
Consortium. The Consortium is co-chaired by
Commissioner Heath and Bill Mansfield, a vice-
president at StorageTek. Councilman Anderson, in
addition to his role as Louisville's Consortium of
Cities representative, has been attending the
Clean Air meetings and has expressed a willingness
to serve as Louisville's representative to the
Clean Air Consortium. Mayor Fauson appointed
Councilman Anderson. to the Boulder County Clean
Air Consortium.
PROCLAMATION - AMERICAN BUSINESS
WOMEN'S DAY Mayor Fauson was asked by the Coal Creek Charter
Chapter of the American Business Women's
Association to proclaim September 22, 1988, as
American Business Women's Day in Louisville. Jean
Hopson of the Coal Creek Charter Chapter accepted
the Proclamation.
PRESENTATION - NEW LOUISVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
UPDATE AND LICENSE AGREEMENT
AUTHORIZATION Stahl introduced Mel Wiesley, Assistant
Superintendent of Boulder Valley Schools, who
updated Council on the progress by the school
planning committee .in the development of the
schematic design of the new proposed Louisville
Elementary School in the Cherrywood Subdivision.
Mr. Wiesley explained that the School District has
an agreement with the City of Louisville that
calls for a gym of <~t least 6,000 s.f. to be used
by both the Districtt and the City. The gym as
designed is 8,000 s..f. and is nearly double in
size of those gyms :in the other elementary schools
in Louisville. There is also a storage area for
equipment set aside for exclusive use by the City.
"We think this is a design that is going be an
enhansive one for both Community use and School
District use." HowE~ver, in order to develop the
site to its maximum,, there is a utility pole that
prevents the site's optimum development.
Therefore, Mr. Wies]'_ey is requesting Council's
authorization for tYie Mayor to execute a licensing
agreement with Boulder Valley Schools for the use
of the old Via Appiai right-of-way adjacent to the
2
